ComplYant Pitch Deck

ComplYant provides digital tax and compliance services for small business owners and entrepreneurs. Shiloh Johnson (now Luckey) founded the tax & compliance startup in 2020 after 14 years of experience as a CPA. The idea was inspired by her experience running her own tax accounting firm for four years.

ComplYant claimed to have acquired 100 customers before raising $1.5M in preseed funding in 2021 from Slauson & Co., Mucker Capital, Tale Venture Partners, and Techstars. One year later, having grown to a team of 9+ and touting over 1,200 subscribers, ComplYant used this deck to raise $4M in a round led by Craft Ventures, joined by existing investors.

After raising a total of $10M and growing to a headcount of over 50, ComplYant would abruptly shut down in September 2023. In a 2025 civil complaint, the SEC charged Luckey with violating securities laws for using company funds to pay for personal expenses such as her home, Super Bowl tickets, and a destination wedding. The court filings also allege ComplYant never brought in more than $620 in monthly revenue.
