Lupiya is a neobank that was established in 2016 with the goal of narrowing the financial inclusion gap for Zambian citizens by providing user-friendly, technology-driven financial solutions to unbanked and underbanked communities. It operates as an online marketplace for microloans, offering an innovative digital microfinance platform that simplifies the borrowing process for individuals and businesses, including those in remote, rural areas.

The Zambian fintech company received $1 million from Enygma Ventures in 2020. Lupiya was also the first company that Google’s prestigious Google Black Founders Fund helped in 2021. In 2023, the company raised $8.25 million in a Series A funding round led by Alitheia IDF Fund. Lupiya is planning to raise a Series B round next year.
