X has seen multiple controversies since Elon Musk bought it in 2022. After the $44 billion acquisition, Musk reduced the headcount to 1500 from 7500 cutting X’s content moderation and communications teams and reinstated banned accounts of many polarizing individuals. This led to rise in hate speech and advertisers left the platform en masses.
The company revenue plummeted to $2.5 billion, a more than 45% decrease from Twitter’s ad sales in 2021. X also lost many brand safety and trust accreditations.
X has now managed to stabilize the situation with a comprehensive brand safety team and moderation policies and many big name advertisers including Amazon and Disney are coming back to the platform. In its latest push, X is promoting itself to potential advertisers with this deck that underlines its commitment to brand safety.
