Founded by serial entrepreneurs Andrew Shebbeare, Andy Bonsall, and Matt Isaacs, Counteract, a VC fund dedicated to advancing carbon removal technologies, has closed a $42 million fund that aims to remove 5Gt of C02e removal by 2050. The fund named ‘Counteract One’ plans to invest in up to 40 pre-seed and seed stage companies across all elements of carbon removal, including engineered and nature-based technologies.
The fund is backed by names like The Grantham Foundation, Anglo American, Equinor Ventures and has invested in more than 20 companies including CREW Carbon, Mote, Parallel Carbon, RepAir, and Concrete 4 Change. Counteract’s team consists of entrepreneurs, scientists and has over 100 years’ experience of building and growing companies in diverse verticals.
