Nesta Impact Investments, the investment arm of UK social innovation agency Nesta, has started a new €57.9 million fund “New Investment Strategy” to support early-stage startups that are delivering positive social and environmental impact. While UK-focused, the fund can invest in any geography as long as the company could have a positive impact on the UK market.
Half of the funding is allocated for Seed and Series A stage startups with investments between £500k and £1 million, with the ability to invest up to £4 million over multiple rounds. The remaining capital goes towards growing Mission Studio – a joint venture between Nesta and Founders Factory which focuses on launching new mission-led startups.
The fund is primarily backed by Nesta itself via the National Lottery proceeds and has already invested in Koru Kids, Habitual Health, and Oxford Medical Products.
