Wealthsimple Pitch Deck

Fintech startup Wealthsimple (often described as a "roboadvisor") offers online financial services for investing, trading, saving, and managing taxes and money. The Toronto-based company was founded in September 2014 by Michael Katchen, Brett Huneycutt, and Rudy Adler. Katchen got the idea in 2013, after he developed a spreadsheet with tips to help his colleagues set up investment portfolios following the exit of 1000Memories (YC S10) to Ancestry.com.
In May 2014, Wealthsimple raised $2M CAD in seed funding in 2.5 weeks from 15 investors. Founder Mike Katchen kindly shared the deck they used along with some tips for fundraising.
Wealthsimple is one of Canada's first fintech unicorns (achieving the status in 2020), valued at CAD $10 billion following a $750 million funding round in October 2025.
